ABOUT US
SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE is a multidisciplinary performance collective, co-founded and driven by us, Celine Werkhoven and Anna Zurkirchen. With strong roots in the language of dance, we explore mixtures of movement, sound, visual art and scenography. In our collaborations with invited artists, we create works that move through a variety of performance spaces – from traditional theaters to natural environments and from video installations to public spaces. Playfully balancing between the surreal and the real, we seek to challenge and expand the viewer’s perception, whilst serving them a poetic potion for the senses.
ANNA ZURKIRCHEN
Anna (1991) is a Brussels-based Swiss dancer, maker, and Ilan Lev Method practitioner. Since completing her Bachelor of Dance in the Netherlands (2017) at Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts, she has been working with various national and international choreographers, such as Katja Heitmann and Tanztheater Rigolo. She is creating her own work both independently and within SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE and Kollektiv Schaflos. Her artistic practise revolves around themes of intimacy and the human experience, using the body as a vessel for the surreal and the real, exploring the body’s strength and fragility. Her interdisciplinary work frequently transcends traditional theatre spaces. Anna is a certified ‘Ilan Lev Method’ practitioner and movement teacher. Her bodywork practice fuels her artistic practices and vice versa.
CELINE WERKHOVEN
Celine (Leiden, 1990) is a dance performer, voice artist and maker with a love for movement, sound and visual art.
She graduated from the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts (BA Modern Dance Theatre, 2012) and has since then performed with a wide range of companies and choreographers, among which Voetvolk/Lisbeth Gruwez. (BE), Katja Heitmann (NL), The Dutch National Opera and Oper Köln (DE). In the last few years she increasingly focusses on her own artistic language, both independently and within SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE. She finds joy in the creation of cross-overs between her first language of movement and other vocabularies, stemming from different disciplines, forms or senses. She aims to translate and transmit her view on what it means to be human, often with a touch of wonderment, humor and sensitivity.
Beside her work as an allround performer and maker, Celine is an experienced teacher in contemporary dance, improvisation, creation.
